What the K-1 Basis Tracker stores, where, and who can read it.

Your positions and K-1 figures are saved in this browser’s local storage, unencrypted, and stay there until you use Clear All Data. Signing out does not remove them.
If you upload a K-1 PDF, the page images are sent to our server and then to a third-party AI provider that reads the figures off the form. If you type your numbers in by hand, nothing is uploaded.
The AI provider reads the form and does no tax calculation. Every calculation is done by our own rules-based engine, and each step cites the IRS rule it follows.
We do not store the PDF or the page images.
The provider’s name is available on request.
The simulator sends an anonymous usage record on each projection: the ticker, a units range, a price range, the horizon, and which features were used, with no exact figures and no account or email.
Every page also loads Google Tag Manager, and the tools push interaction events into it, such as page views, clicks, and the ticker you are working on; tax figures are not pushed. If you enter your email in a signup form, it is also sent to Google’s tag and analytics service.
Payment runs on a Stripe-hosted page. We pass Stripe your account ID and, if you are signed in, your email, so the purchase can be matched to your account. Card details are entered on Stripe’s page and never reach our server. Stripe sends us your customer ID, email, and subscription status and dates, which we store in your account record.
Sign-in uses Firebase Authentication with email and password only. Firebase holds your email and a hashed password. Our account record holds your email, your premium status and expiry, your Stripe customer ID, sign-up and last sign-in times, and the salt and verifier used to check your encryption password. It never holds the password or the key.
If you sign in, your positions are encrypted in your browser before backup, with a key derived from your password. We cannot read the encrypted figures. We can see your account email and the ticker of each position.
