Most major MLP K-1 tax packages for the 2025 tax year are released between late February and mid-March 2026. As of March 6, 2026, EPD, PAA, CQP, and MMLP have released their K-1s. ET and MPLX are expected mid-March. The table below tracks every major MLP with live status updates.
Magellan Midstream (MMP): Acquired by ONEOK in 2023, converted to C-corp. No K-1 issued for 2025. Former MMP holders receive ONEOK 1099-DIV instead.
Targa Resources (TRGP): Converted to C-corp in 2024. Now issues 1099, not K-1.
Several MLPs now also issue Schedule K-3 (Partner’s Share of Income from International Transactions). K-3s are typically available later — often May or June. For most domestic individual investors, the K-3 information is either already reported on your K-1 or doesn’t apply to you.
Your broker’s cost basis is almost certainly wrong for your MLP position — here’s why. Verify your K-1 data, update your basis calculation, check state filing requirements, and enter the K-1 into your tax software.
Use the free K-1 Basis Tracker to calculate your real IRS-adjusted cost basis. Need help reading your K-1? See the line-by-line worksheet guide.
K-1s can arrive as late as mid-March or later. File Form 4868 for an automatic six-month extension (until October 15, 2026). See the full filing extension guide.
